Makeup Storage

Back when my makeup collection was small and simple, I would keep everything separate in makeup pouches on my dresser. Since, it is forever growing, a while back I decided it's time to be a little more organized. I found these chests of drawers at Walmart for only $8. They aren't as pretty as the see-through acrylic chests like I've seen beauty gurus have, but it works for now!

I have separate drawers for each product in order that I apply it. It starts with primer, next I'd obviously use foundation but I put that on top since they're pretty large. Then it continues with powders, concealers, bronzers, blushes, eyebrow/eyelash products, eyeliners & mascaras, lip glosses, and lipsticks. I keep my palettes on a shelf above.

As for my brushes, for now, I am keeping them in the closeable holder/case that my sigma brushes came in. I also use a DIY makeup holder that I made out of a mason jar with glitter and ribbon.

It'd eventually be nice to have a more presentable, pretty place to store everything like in a vanity or nicer compartments.

How do you guys store your makeup? Is it organized or all mixed together? I'm curious. :)

About me

Thought I'd do a little personal post just so you can learn a few interesting facts about me. :)
  •  Like I said in my bio, I am an identical twin. My sister and I make ourselves look different, so you wouldn't think we're identical in person, but people definitely know we're sisters when they see us. That's not it though, both of my parents are a twin too! Our story was posted in the city news when my sister and I were born.
  •  I've only dated/been with one person. We're still together almost 6 years later. His name is Garrett.♥
  • I got my first dog in 2009. His name is Jet (named after our favorite pizza shop, ~fatgirlprobs). He is a poodle, schnauzer, papillion mix. I didn't know it was possible to love something so much until we got him! I'm just a huge sucker for animals. I feel more sad and upset when I hear about people losing their pets than anything else. Sorry, I'm not sorry.
  •  I'd say I have a "salt tooth" instead of a sweet tooth like other people seem to have. I never crave sweets, I crave salty things like chips, fries, anything with soy sauce, just basically junk food. It's so bad but so good!
  •  I've known my best friend since I was a toddler in daycare. Long lasting friendships are theee best.
  • I've been out of the country to two places, Canada and Mexico. I'd love to eventually go somewhere in Europe! I think Greece and Italy look gorgeous.
  • I started wearing makeup when I was 11. What I thought looked good, actually looked horrible. We all had that kind of phase, right? :X

I'll leave this at that! Hope this was enjoyable to read :)

Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Palette Review

This is my first purchase from the Kat Von D line and like I expected, it did not disappoint. It didn't oil up and crease during the day like a lot of eye shadows tend to do. I love that it is formulated without paragens, and has ingredients that include vitamin E, rose extract, and conditioning oils that keep your skin feeling smooth.

The colors are perfect for a smokey eye, or neutral eye. They are rich, pigmented, long lasting and easily blendable. The palette starts with a beautiful deep purple called Für Elise, and continues with Vespertine, Renholdër, Siouxsie-sioux, Unrequited, Harlow, Wölf, and Cleopatra. It also comes with a mini dark brown eyeliner called Immortal Love. The colors are very versatile and wearable for any eye color.

The packaging is so cute and easily portable. Is it cliche that it reminds me of tattoos? I just really like this palette and know I will got a lot of use out of it! :)

Do you have any Kat Von D products? I'm interested in more!

Million Dollar Tan Review

Sorry all of my reviews so far have been about tanning products! But hey, it's summer time! :) I got the Million Dollar Tan in the mail yesterday and immediately tried it out because I was so excited about it. It came in a flat rate USPS packaging. They had it wrapped in cute heart tissue paper with a little note tied to it. It explained that they gave me two 4 oz. bottles instead of the 8 oz. that I originally ordered because they were sold out of it (WOW!), and they didn't want to delay my order. It also came with a note card explaining the product, and then application tips on the back. That was really awesome and helpful.

Once again, I showered and exfoliated first. My tan from the tanning towelettes I had tried a couple days earlier had already faded for the most part. I rubbed it in circular motions on my face (it says we can use it there without clogging pores!), and all over my body like a normal body lotion. It came out a translucent white and spread easily.

It had a very faint smell that I can't really describe. Kind of plastic-ey? It didn't bother me though. I didn't really notice a difference on my skin until a couple hours later. It gave me a very deep tan with no streaking besides a tiny bit on my wrist where I probably stopped applying it.

You can really see a difference! The top picture was yesterday before I applied it, and the bottom was this morning when I woke up. It looks a little orangey but naturally, that's how my skin tans anyway. I like the results considering that's how the sun or tanning bed makes me look anyway! This was worth the money for me. $26 for the 8 oz. bottle on their main website, milliondollartan.com. This is a product I'll definitely repurchase when it runs out.

L'oreal self-tanning towelettes review

I finally got around to giving these a try. I shaved and exfoliated in the shower and then dried off to use it. The towelette was white and folded up, no brown color on it at all. I kept it folded and used it on my arm first, and opened it up as I went to other body parts. I used it on my arms, legs, stomach, chest, upper back, basically anywhere I could reach besides my face. I rubbed it in an up and down motion which might have been a mistake. The scent was not strong, but it definitely had a smell. Not a normal self-tanner smell, but not a very pleasant one either. I did notice a nice bronze glow soon after I put it on, but nothing too drastic.

In the morning is when I got to see the whole effect of it. I had a nice blotch right on my wrist bone. I also had a streak down the inside of my arm. I later read that using up and down motions can cause streaking. You want to use circular motions when you rub it in (I'll remember that next time!). I also had brown/orangey palms because I didn't wash my hands after (I'm an idiot, my fault). The packaging did not have application directions, which might have been useful and made me more satisfied if I knew what kind of motion to apply it. I don't feel like it was orange, but it obviously wasn't brown either. My natural tan tends to be more orangey and red than brown anyway so it looked like a normal tan to me.

All in all, for the price, I think it's decent and will finish it up. From then on, I will probably stick to lotions and sprays just because they're less awkward to apply.

Hope this was useful! Would you try a towelette out?

Ootd, Clothing & Cosmetic Haul

Hello! The weather was beautiful today so, instead of spending my Sunday in bed like I usually like to do, I went on a little shopping spree with my sister Melissa. We went to our outdoor mall, Partidge Creek, and found some things at Forever 21 and H&M. We also went back to Target and picked up a couple cosmetics. Being a twin has so many perks, like being able to share clothes. ;) I apologize for the blurry quality of the pictures. My iphone sucks. :(

OOTD: I had second day hair, so I threw it in a pony tail. Not the prettiest look, but it was hot and I didn't want it hanging on my back all day. Black dress is from H&M, red sandals are from Kmart, and Michael Kors watch. I wore a wet n' wild red lipstick to match with neutral brown eyeshadow and my black liquid eyeliner that is practically my every day look.

Clothing Haul: Melissa modeled the shirts for me. ;) Hence the blonde hair.

Small Haul

Even though all I really needed was a birthday card for my younger brother & father's day card, I did a little browsing at Target. Can you blame me? No one has self control there. Here are the things I picked up.

Cheetah Print Scarf: It's really light and airy. There's nothing worse than a bulky scarf to me. I can't wait to wear this to spice up a casual outfit. I'd pair this with a white tee and some denim shorts, or black leggings.

Loreal Magic Lumi Primer: This has gotten great reviews! I'm excited to try this out and see how it differs from the Benefit Porefessional and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind primer that I currently use. I have other Loreal Lumi products that I love, so I'm sure this won't disappoint.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara: I'm a sucker for thin brush wands since I have rather thin and sparse eyelashes (thanks dad!). I feel like it's easier to get up in there to the lash line. I haven't ventured out too much with mascaras. My long time favorite has been Maybelline's Great Lash mascara. I've currently been using the Too Faced Lashgasm which is amazing, but is sadly running out.

Coppertone Tanning Spray: It's that time of year where we live in our bikini's, and naturally we want to get some sun while we're at it. I've always been a sun worshiper (bad me, I know). I made sure it wasn't the lowest SPF but not the highest either, so I can still get some UV rays. I like sprays because it feels more lightweight. I'm not very picky of the brands. I feel like they all do their job.

picture is not mine
Clearasil Ultra Cleansing Pads: I've used this for years! It's my holy grail. My skin always feels really refreshed and clean after using it. I struggle with small hormonal acne breakouts and I feel like this helps fight it off. I use this every night before bed or anytime I wash my face. I'll share my night time skin care routine in a later post.

That's it! Do you like these products? Tell me if this is something you've used and enjoyed!

Introductory

Welcome to the beginning of my blog journey! This has been inspired by so many things.

For starters, over the past couple months, I have obsessively been watching Youtube beauty gurus that I discovered by random. My favorites are -- Shaaanxo, Saturdaynitesalright, ChloeMorello, & JlovesMac1. I absolutely love what they do. In my own humble opinion, I don't find that my techniques are quite as good as theirs and I'm not as comfortable in front of the camera (even though I do plan on doing some youtubes here & there to better explain myself if need be), is the reason why I decided to take the blogging route.

I've always loved makeup! I began wearing it at a very young age (11?) and my love for it grew from there on. It wasn't until my college years that I began splurging on more high end beauty products which I love just as equally as my drug store brands I've used for years. I will give my honest opinion and reviews on my experiences.

I don't consider myself a fashionista by any means, but I love clothes and I love shopping! I will most definitely share what I score when I take my monthly (sometimes weekly) shopping trips. I'll also share my inspirations and things I may be lusting over.

Keep in mind, this is new to me. I may forget to credit, link, disclaim, etc. If I make a crucial or important mistake and you think I should add something in, please let me know!

I want to give a big thanks to Emily at Designer Blogs for designing my page for me. This would be an eyesore to look at if it wasn't for their great service.

That is all, let the fun begin! :)

xoxo.
